DAY ONE – Friday, September 30th 2022

 

Welcome to Sicily! Catania – Pozzallo – Ragusa

Donnafugata Wine Tasting

 

  • 10:00am: Arrival at Catania Airport or Pozzallo Port to reach our destination this morning, the beautiful Baroque town of Ragusa Ibla
  • After we have checked into our Hotel, a leisurely lunch before a guided tour to explore Ragusa’s mythological aura and the beautiful architecture enjoying the stunning views that Ragusa offers in Ragusa Ibla
  • Later this afternoon we will reach the famous Donnafugata Winery nearby for a Wine Tasting paired with an early dinner
  • Dinner and evening at leisure in Ragusa

 

DAY TWO - Saturday, October 1st 2022

 

Ragusa - Cheese Tasting – Modica & Chocolate Tasting – Noto - Siracusa Ortigia

 

  • After a leisurely breakfast, departure to reach the nearby town of Modica, renowned for its excellent chocolate production and chocolate tasting
  • En-route stop for a lovely local cheese-tasting experience with our Hosts
  • Our  stroll around Modica will be complemented by a local chocolate tasting followed by lunch based on local traditional recipes and native flavours
  •  We will then reach the beautiful town of Noto, that will welcome us with its stunning Baroque architecture
  • Time to reach nearby Siracusa, the 2,700 year old town founded by the Greeks and the birthplace of famous mathematician and scholar Archimedes
  • Extremely rich in history, Siracusa offers an amazing combination of Greek and Roman Amphitheatres and Catholic Basilicas
  • Our Hotel will be on Ortigia Island, the original Siracusa, followed by a lovely evening walk to discover its intriguing history and dinner arranged by Guests

 

 

 

DAY THREE – Sunday, October 2nd 2022

 

Siracusa – Market / Sicily Coast – Giardini Naxos - Taormina

 

  • After breakfast, guided visit through Ortigia and, time permitting, to the Greek Amphitheatre in Siracusa
  • Lunch will be a very local experience in the Ortigia Market!
  • Departure along the coast as we head towards Taormina on a beautiful drive that will also offer a glimpse of Mount Etna in the background
  • En-route stop in the lovely fishing town of Giardini Naxos to enjoy stunning views of the Ionian Sea
  • Arrival at hotel in Taormina and evening at leisure for shopping, people watching and dinner in town arranged by Guests

 

DAY FOUR - Monday, October 3rd 2022

 

Taormina – Culinary Masterclass I – Greek Theatre & Archeological Sites

 

  • 09:30: After a leisurely breakfast, our first Sicilian Cooking Masterclass that will feature Sicily’s most traditional dishes!
  • Lunch to sample the fruits of our labour
  • Afternoon guided visit to Taormina’s Greek Theater and Archeological site 
  • Evening at leisure for shopping, people watching and dinner in town arranged by Guests

 

DAY FIVE – Tuesday, October 4th 2022

 

Option#1: Mount Etna Off-Roading Experience – Agrigento

(2.5 hr drive)

 

  • 09:00: Your Driver will be waiting for you for your private transfer to reach Mount Etna this morning!
  • We will take on a short hike along the ridges of the craters on Europe’s largest active volcano climbing as close as possible to the craters or in one of our Off Road vehicles
  • We will enjoy a frugal lunch at altitude as we approach the craters
  • After lunch, we head towards the coast and reach Agrigento, among Sicily’s most important cultural and historical experiences!
  • A Greek settlement dating back millennia, Agrigento was among the wealthiest colonies of Magna Graecia
  • Check-in at our lovely hotel followed by dinner arranged by Guests and evening at leisure

  • 08:30/08:45: Transfer to Giardini Naxos to meet your private helicopter and Captain awaiting you at the helipad to board
  • 09:00: Fascinating fly over Sicily’s most iconic natural active volcanoes and islands: Mount Etna and its several craters, the Stromboli Volcano and the Aeolian Islands with special attention to the island of Vulcano
  • After lunch, we head towards the coast and reach Agrigento, among Sicily’s most important cultural and historical experiences!

DAY SIX – Wednesday, October 5th 2022

 

Agrigento & The Temple Valley – Fish Lunch – Palermo

(2 hr drive)

 

  • This morning will feature a guided visit through Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples, a breathtaking visit of Sicily’s most notable Temples, Churches and Acropolis
  • Lunch will be excellent fish caught locally at one of Agrigento’s best restaurants, well known by the locals!

 

 

 

DAY SEVEN – Thursday, October 6th 2022

 

Palermo Quarters & Foodie – Monreale – Private Siclian Cooking Class Palermo by night

 

  • This morning, after breakfast, drive to nearby Monreale to visit its stunning Norman-Byzantine Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an amazing example of that artistic and architectural fusion of cultures that Sicily is famous for
  • Typical lunch in Monreale
  • Our journey of discovery continues with a guided walking experience through the fascinating quarters of Palermo, a true cultural immersion in its history spanning over 2700 years!
  • Our walk will include Palermo’s mesmerizing architecture and heritage from the Phoenicians to the Romans, from the Byzantine influence to its Arab and Norman domination
  • Late afternoon very special treat…sleeves up for a hands-on Cooking Masterclass with Chef to disclose the some of the secrets behind a few Sicilian staple dishes!
  • Your class will cover the most delicious Sicilian preparations and recipes under the guidance of our passionate Chefs, followed by dinner to sample the fruits of our labour!
  • After dinner, we would recommend time at leisure exploring Palermo by night

 

DAY EIGHT – Friday, October 7th 2022

 

Erice – Favignana?/ Palermo?  

  • After breakfast, we set off to visit the charming village of Erice, where myth, history and culture blend in a marvellous way
  • Our walk through Erice will guide us through the cobbled streets and alleys that inspired the poet Virgil for his poem Aeneid
  • Visits will include Erice’s fortified walls, quarters and churches and castles built in the most beautiful architectural variety, with special attention to the Spanish Quarter and the Norman Castle of Venus, all overlooking stunning views
  • After a typical lunch in the area,  
    • Option #1:Ferry from Trapani to Favignana Island for afternoon, evening and 1 night at my friend’s lovely B&B. Dinner arranged by Guests
    • Option #2:Return to Palermo for afternoon and evening to visit an Art Gallery or enjoy an opera or concert at the imposing Teatro Massimo (dependant of the Theatre Season Calendar) and dinner arranged by Guests

 

 

 

DAY NINE – Saturday, October 8th 2022

 

Morning at leisure - Transfer to Palermo Airport

 

  • After breakfast, morning at leisure OR Sicilian Cookery Masterclass with Markets (replaces Day Seven evening Cookery Masterclass)
  • Lunch
  • In the afternoon, transfer to Palermo Airport…Arrivederci Sicily!!

A token of gratitude. Ideally your Host should collect €75 eur in cash per guest on Day 3 to cover all tips that deserve to be shared among all Partners.
